We need to bring to your attention an issue regarding creating filenames/folders and OneDrive/Teams/SharePoint sync.

Mac users are able to create files and folders with invalid characters, and this will stop the synchronisation of the files.

To avoid this issue, Mac users must not use the below in a filename;

space before file name

space after file name

< (less than)

> (greater than)

: (colon)

" (double quote)

| (pipe)

? (question mark)

* (asterisk)

/ (slash)

\ (backslash)

If these characters are used, the files will not sync.

If these characters are used on folder names, the folder and all content will not be synchronised.

This only affects Mac users when using OneDrive/Teams/SharePoint, other services such as Google Drive, Dropbox, etc. will also be impacted but are not supported by us and should not be used.

Windows users are unaffected as these characters cannot be used in filenames.
