Rather than saving multiple versions of the same file with differing file names, did you know that when saving Office documents in OneDrive / Teams / SharePoint automatically stores a version history of that file?

This means even if you have saved a version that you then need to roll-back, you can!  Simply access the version history of the document, find the revision you want to roll-back to and save or save-as.

There are a number of ways to do so;

Method 1

From the open document, go to File > Info > Version History

Once you select Version History, your file we have a window on the right-hand panel showing all current and previous versions.
Click on the version you wish to review and, if you wish, to restore.

Method 2

In the Office app with the document open, click on the filename at the very top of the app (where highlighted below);

The Version History button will be displayed, clicking on this will again show a panel on the right-hand side to select a version for review & restore.

Method 3

From within SharePoint, locate the document and select, then click on the three-dots to the right of the document name;

You can then select which version to review, and restore/save as.
