The new Outlook for Windows brings the latest features, intelligent assisted capabilities and a new modern and simplified design to your Outlook app.  


1. New Navigation

  • Open Outlook and look at the left side of the screen.
  • Here, you’ll see icons for Mail, Calendar, Contacts, and other apps.
  • Click on any of these icons to quickly switch to that app. 

2. Simplified Ribbon

  • Look at the top of the Outlook window to see the ribbon.
  • This ribbon has a simplified look with larger, easier-to-see icons.  
  • If you prefer the classic ribbon, go to View > Simplify Ribbon to toggle it off. 

3. Customisable Ribbon

  • To customise the ribbon, select more option in the simplified ribbon and select ‘Customize’. 
     
  • Here, you can add or remove commands to suit your needs.   

4. New Settings Section

  • Click on the File tab in the upper left corner, then select Options.
  • This will open the Outlook Settings window where you can adjust your account settings, general settings, mail settings, calendar settings, and people settings. 

5. My Day Panel

  • On the right side of the Outlook window, click on the My Day icon (it looks like a small calendar).
  • This will open the My Day panel, showing your schedule for the day.  

6. Pinning Emails

  • To pin an email, open the email folder and right-click on the email you want to pin.
  • Select ‘Pin to Top’ from the context menu. 

7. Updated Categorise Function

  • To categorise an email, right-click on the email and select ‘Categorise’.
  • You can then choose a category or create a new one.

8. Snooze Emails

  • To snooze an email, right-click on the email and select ‘Snooze’.
  • You can then choose when you want the email to reappear in your inbox.
